Today is a new day though and a new way to save some money, I mean that’s the goal right!
This week I am declaring the official #MoneySavingWeek for Even Steven, the entire week will be dedicated to companies I use to save money and in return I will provide an opportunity for you to save money as well, the great Win, Win that everyone is looking for. Your New Year’s Resolution of saving money does not end on January 31st, in fact I hope to revitalize your goals and passion to save money. My goal for you and I is to save money, learn about a company I personally use to save money, and have YOU try a new way to save money. Let’s get started.
What is Comcast?
Comcast is the is an American mass media company and is the largest broadcasting and cable company in the world by revenue. It is the largest cable company and home Internet service provider in the United States. They are the Verizon, Starbucks, and Wal-Mart of the cable and internet service world. I consider them part of the evil empire, despite my dislike for the evil empire, the products that they offer are better than the rest and often at a cheaper rate.
Why Do I Use Comcast?
- Better than Competition. Many of us have limited options in our internet and cable selection, but one of the factors that is a high priority is who has the best internet connection. Comcast wins the battle for me on this one, in over a year I’ve haven’t had any instances of the internet being down or any major problems. I don’t care what Internet provider you have, you are doing everything in your power to not deal with them, customer service is going to make your day worse no matter who you are calling, sorry. Instead let’s just get the best provider out there and call it a day, here’s how Comcast compares to the “other” big boys.
- Better Price, More Options, and No Contracts. Like any good personal finance blogger I shopped around, the main services in our area were all more expensive. In fact with the package I chose I was able to get Performance Internet Service, a handful of local channels(CBS, NBC, etc), and HBO for $39.99, that’s a great price for what I currently receive**. Plus to get HBO, that service is going to stand alone and cost people $20/month, plus by getting the local channels I don’t get cut out from sports. I am able to watch the Super Bowl, March Madness, NFL, and many more at no extra cost to me. They even have an On-Demand service included called Streampix that I rarely use, but probably should check out. Because technology is changing by the moment I prefer not being tied to a provider or if I find a better deal out there I can jump ship without any consequences.***
- Xfinity Wifi Hot Spots. For me this is one of the best features for me, kind of like a hidden gem. XFINITY WiFi is a network of hotspots that keep you connected to the Internet at Wi-Fi speeds around town. You qualify to connect to an XFINITY WiFi hotspot for no additional charge if you subscribe to XFINITY Internet Performance or above level of service. The reason this is such a huge bonus for me is I currently have Republic Wireless and use the $10 plan which is Talk and Text Only, if I want to jump on the internet for data I need to connect to Wi-Fi , so this hidden gem works perfect as I randomly update my email or check for directions while I’m connected.
The way Comcast can save you money is by using the below plans for new customers, if you sign up you are essentially cutting the cord. With these options you get to cut the cord and keep sports, on-demand programming, and HBO. My bill has been below $40 for over a year**, even after the promotion is over, I am still under $60. If you are looking to make the jump to cutting the cord or are sick of your current internet provider, select the below pictures(all Share the Awesome Links) or this link and it will walk you through how to sign up with my Refer-A-Friend code****, if you use the service I suggest you will get a $25 Pre-paid Visa card, what a great bonus for moving to a service that is going to save you money.
Don’t forget to use my code 1RCT5T when you are checking out to receive the prepaid Visa card.
**$39.99 for the first 12 months(not including taxes and fees), $59.99 for the next 12 months, and $69.99 is the regular pricing after that. So the 2 year cost is $50/month and the 3 year cost is $56/month, every year after that will creep towards the regular price, but come on this is technology we will all have internet from Google or the Government by then right?!
***Some of the pricing options require a contract, the ones that I recommend and currently use do not.
****The Refer-A-Friend program is simple, if you sign up with Comcast using the link I provide and code 1RCT5T, not only will you get a pre-paid visa card but so will Even Steven Money.
